International observers and delegations of international organizations from many countries continue their visit to Uzbekistan to take part in the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Kengashes (Council) on 22 December.

The Central Election Commission held a meeting with the President of the International Expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES), the Director of the Institute for Eastern European and CIS Countries Alexander Zinker on December 20.

During the meeting, Head of the Secretariat of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kh. Mamatov informed in detail about the work carried out by the Central Election Commission and the lower election commissions. It was noted that the parliamentary elections are being held following the new rules and regulations in the electoral legislation. The election code introduced new procedures and changes regarding polling stations, candidates, voting processes and political parties.

Currently, an important stage of the election campaign - the election campaign is coming to an end. The Central Election Commission has provided broad and equal opportunities for political parties and candidates to use the media.

As noted at the event, as a result of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, the socio-political activity of citizens has increased, and great successes have been achieved in economic and social spheres.

Alexander Zinker highlighted that Uzbekistan's great achievement is the modernization of the electoral system in accordance with the modern requirements and the development and implementation of the Electoral Code that meets international standards.
