The Uzbek delegation observed the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus

On August 9, 2020, the Presidential elections were held in the Republic of Belarus. The representatives of the Uzbek delegation - Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Istamov, CEC member A.Ibodullaev and deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis O.Tadjiev participated in the CIS observer mission and observed the process of preparation and conduct of the elections as international observers.

The total number of voters in the Republic of Belarus was 6,844,932. Polling stations were formed with the number of voters not less than 20 and not more than 3000.


Five candidates registered by the Belarusian Central Election Commission have run for the presidency: Alexander Lukashenko (incumbent president), Sergei Cherechen (chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Belarus), Anna Kanopatskaya (former deputy, businessman, lawyer), and Andrei Dmitriev (public figure, Co-chair of the Govori Pravdu association), Svetlana Tikhanovskaya (wife of a Gomel blogger who refused to register).


According to the electoral legislation of the Republic of Belarus, the official results of the elections must be announced within 10 days from the date of the election.
