REGULAR MEETING OF THE CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION

A regular meeting of the Central Election Commission was held on October 29, 2021.

The meeting was conducted by the Chairman of the Commission Z. Nizamkhodjaev. The members of the commission considered the results of the presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan held on October 24, 2021.

It was noted that despite the difficult circumstances caused by the pandemic, more than 16 million or 80,4% of voters, voted freely for the candidate they deemed worthy, following quarantine rules.

The missions of international organizations observed with great interest the presidential elections, approximately thousand external observers and hundreds of foreign journalists emphasized significant changes in the country’s electoral legislation and practice in a short period of time.

According to article 95 of the Election Code, election results over the constituency are determined only on the basis of protocols submitted by precinct election commissions. District election commission shall determine the total number of registered voters in the district’s voters list, the number of voters who received ballot papers, the number of voters who participated in voting, the number of votes cast for each candidate, and the number of invalid ballot papers.

The election results over the constituency are determined at a meeting of the district election commission and entered into the protocol. The protocol is signed by the chairman, deputy chairman, secretary and other members of the commission and submitted to the relevant election commission.

The protocols of 14 district election commissions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, holding elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the election results over constituency were submitted to the Central Election Commission in the prescribed manner.

The protocols of the district election commissions holding presidential elections were observed by the members of the Central Election Commission. As a result of the observation, it was found that these protocols were drawn up in full compliance with the requirements of the Election Code and the Regulation of the Central Election Commission on the activities of district election commissions for the presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan dd. April 14, 2021.

Following the meeting, the members of the Commission approved the protocol on the election results of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held on October 24, 2021. The decision on the agenda of the meeting was unanimously adopted by open vote by the members of the commission.
