MEETING WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC FOR ELECTIONS AND REFERENDA

As previously reported, the Uzbek delegation is taking part in the elections to the Jokargy Kenes of the Kyrgyz Republic to be held on November 27-29.

Within the framework of the visit, on November 28, the Uzbek delegation led by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zainiddin Nizomkhodzhaev met with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shaldabekova Karmabekovna.

During the meeting N. Shaldabekova spoke about the work done by the CEC on the preparation and conduct of parliamentary elections.

According to the Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic, 3,703,420 voters were included in

the final voter list for the elections to the Jokargy Kenes of the Kyrgyz Republic, including 84,128 voters registered at polling stations abroad. The number of voters in single-mandate constituencies was 3,619,292 (excluding voters registered abroad).

1,015 candidates from 21 political parties and 296 candidates from 36 single-mandate constituencies were registered.

A total of 2,494 polling stations have been opened in Kyrgyzstan, of which 59 are located abroad and 2,435 are inside the country. On November 27, an «open vote» process was conducted.

In order to ensure the openness and transparency of the electoral process, the CEC accredited a total of 736 international observers, including 36 observers from 14 foreign electoral bodies, 636 observers from international organizations and 64 observers from diplomatic missions.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan praised the high level of preparation for the parliamentary elections, in particular, the measures taken to introduce modern information and communication technologies into the electoral process.
