The performance of the Central Election Commission in 2022 and priority objectives for 2023

On January 18, 2023, the Central Election Commission held its regular meeting.

The CEC considered the assessment report on the performance of local election commissions in the study regions. The CEC, based on its powers, studied the uniform application of the Election Code in Bukhara, Navoi, Tashkent, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya regions, the practice of organizing and holding elections for vacant seats in local Kengashes (Councils) of people's deputies, the safe storage of electoral equipment. The meeting discussed measures to eliminate the identified shortcomings and improve the performance of local election commissions.

At the meeting, the CEC approved the Annual performance report for 2022. According to the Report in 2022, the CEC organized its activities in the following areas: improving the electoral process and legislation, ensuring the openness of the CEC, the electoral system, and electoral processes, strengthening public relations, extending the use of information and communication technologies in the electoral system, developing modern educational technologies and approaches in the electoral process, international cooperation.

The meeting discussed the main activities for the ongoing year, identified priority objectives for 2023, and approved a work plan for the first half of the year.

In addition, according to the agenda, the CEC considered other issues within its competence at the meeting.
