Several meetings were held in the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Today, 28 April, meetings were held in the Central Election Commission with Mohd Faisal Siyam Bin Abdul Khazis, member of the Central Election Commission of Malaysia, Omer Kochaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Igor Karpenko, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Nurlan Abdirov, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Khudoyorzoda Bakhtiyor Tavar, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Tajikistan, who visited our country to observe the preparation and holding of the referendum in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, detailed information was provided on the improvement of referendum procedures in accordance with international standards; the work on the preparation and holding of the referendum systematically carried out on the basis of the schedule approved by the CEC and national legislation.

The day before the referendum, international observers visited the referendum commissions and found that they were adequately prepared. They also stressed that the provision of information for the referendum was well organized and that new electoral technologies were tested during the referendum.

Mohd Faisal Siyam Bin Abdul Khazis, a member of the Central Election Commission of Malaysia, noted, “First of all, we are pleased and grateful to have been invited by the Central Election Commission to observe the referendum process. As we have seen, the process is being closely followed by the media. The Central Election Commission of Malaysia has no experience in organizing referendums, but we intend to study the experience of Uzbekistan and hope to cooperate in this regard in the future.”

For his part, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Omer Kochaman said, “The composition of the mission of the Organization of Turkic States consists of representatives of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We have great respect for our Uzbek brothers and sisters and want these referendums to be conducted in an open and transparent manner based on international standards. Based on our long-standing cooperation with the Central Election Commission, I can say that this year's referendum will be well prepared.”

It should be noted that the observer missions will monitor the process of preparation and holding of the referendum on April 30. During their visit to Uzbekistan, the missions visited a number of referendum precincts of our republic and planned to issue relevant conclusions and recommendations on the observations.
