The meeting agenda included the issues of accreditation of observers from foreign countries and international organizations, as well as the media representatives.
The Commission members first considered the issue of accreditation of observers from foreign countries and international organizations for the President election in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has submitted CEC proposals on the accreditation of 411 foreign (international) observers. In this regard, a draft resolution has been developed by the CEC on the accreditation of observers from foreign states and international organizations for the Presidential election of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Following the draft, a total of 411 international observers were registered from international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the European Union, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, as well as from the foreign countries such as the USA, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Italy, France, China, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Latvia, Poland, Canada, and Japan.
Thus, 968 observers were accredited to date by foreign countries and international organizations for the participation in the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to Article 33 of the Electoral Code, accreditation of observers from foreign countries and international organizations in the election of the President of Uzbekistan will continue at least 10 days before the election. On October 14, the Central Election Commission suspended acceptance of documents for the accreditation of international observers.
The Central Election Commission empowers international observers to engage their activities during the pre-election and elections period within the time frame established by law.
The Commission members also considered the accreditation issue of media representatives.
It was pointed out that the CEC has received applications from 4 local and 34 foreign media outlets.
The meeting unanimously approved the draft resolution on the accreditation of media representatives. Twenty local and 87 foreign media representatives were accredited.
Currently, the number of accredited local media totals to 1,439, and the number of representatives of foreign media - 233.
It should be stated that the accreditation process of media representatives was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the CEC Regulation «On the accreditation procedure of media representatives during the election campaign».
According to Article 33 of the Electoral Code, accreditation process lasted from the date of the official announcement of the start of the election campaign until at least ten days before the election. On October 14, the Central Election Commission suspended acceptance of documents for accreditation of media representatives.
The Сommission members adopted the decisions, which were included in the agenda of the meeting, unanimously by open voting.
