The joint session of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was attended by deputies and senators, state and public representatives, members of the international diplomatic corps, media workers and bloggers. 

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Z. Nizamkhodjaev. The Chairman of the Central Election Committee Z. Nizamkhodjaev noted that in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Article 65 of the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will take the oath at a joint session of the Oliy Majlis.       

In this regard, the newly elected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, highly-esteemed Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev was invited to the rostrum to take an oath.

In accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev swore the following: «I do solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of Uzbekistan, to strictly follow the Constitution and laws of the Republic, to guarantee the rights and freedoms of its citizens, and to conscientiously exercise the duties vested to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan».

According to the law, the President shall take office upon inauguration at a joint session of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
