The agenda of the meeting, chaired by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Abdusalomov included accreditation of foreign mass media representatives and amendments to the Central Election Commission Decree №1009 of December 17, 2019.

 

The Central Election Commission pays special attention to the organization of the work of polling stations established abroad following requirements of electoral legislation. This is important for the implementation of the constitutional right of citizens of Uzbekistan living abroad to vote. There were established 55 polling stations in the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Uzbekistan.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, taking into account the initiative of the Russian side to widely promote the voting process of the citizens of Uzbekistan living in Russia on December 22, submitted a proposal for accreditation of staff of the “Vesti” information program of the “Rossiya” TV channel to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on accreditation of 26 representatives of the information program “Vesti” directorate.

Moreover, the accreditation of some foreign journalists accredited under the CEC Decisions No. 987 of 19 November 2019 and No. 991 of 26 November 2019 was abolished on the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, respectively.

 

Taking into account the above, to date, the number of accredited local media has reached 283, and the number of foreign media representatives has reached 131.

It should be noted that the powers of mass media representatives start on a day of their issuance of accreditation certificates and end on a day of the official publication of election results.
