In connection with this important political process in the country on May 24-28, 2021 the Needs Assessment Mission (NAM) of the OSCE ODIHR visited Uzbekistan to to assess the pre-election environment and preparations for the presidential election and had a meeting with the Chairperson of the CEC. Following the visit, the NAM in its report recommended the deployment of full-fledged OSCE ODIHR Mission which will include a core team (10-15 experts), 28 long-term observers, as well as 250 short-term observers to monitor the upcoming elections.
Considering the importance of the participation of observers, including representatives of foreign states and observation missions of international organizations in ensuring the openness and transparency of elections, it is planned to invite observers from foreign countries and prestigious international organizations. In particular, along with the OSCE PA and ODIHR missions, invitations will be sent to the CIS, SCO, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and other organizations.
